UI VC Highlights Impact of Restroom Quality on Health and Well-Being

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS, fspsp, has emphasized that the quality of restrooms significantly affects the well-being of users. He made the remark during the commissioning of newly renovated restrooms for staff and patients at the University Health Service (Jaja Clinic).

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS, fspsp, has emphasized that the quality of restrooms significantly affects the well-being of users. He made the remark during the commissioning of newly renovated restrooms for staff and patients at the University Health Service (Jaja Clinic).

Professor Adebowale noted that well-maintained facilities reflect the institution’s commitment to health and wellness, particularly in a hospital setting, and should not be overlooked. He commended Dr. Aderonke Ajav, Director of the University Health Service, for her innovative leadership, highlighting that the project sets a benchmark for the wider university community.

Acknowledging the dedication of UHS staff, the Vice-Chancellor assured that university management would continue to address other critical needs within the clinic.

Earlier, Dr. Ajav expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and university management for approving the project, stressing that environmental health is a vital component of overall healthcare. She noted that as a National Health Insurance provider, the upgraded restrooms are expected to enhance client experience, improve patronage, and boost revenue.

The Director also revealed plans to renovate patient toilets to make them wheelchair-friendly and reiterated appreciation for university initiatives, including staff recruitment, provision of alternative power supply, welfare programs for nurses, food vendor workshops, the staff wellness program, and the refurbishment of the UHS ambulance with necessary medical apparatus.
