The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Obi stated this at the First Matriculation Ceremony of the Open and Distance Learning Centre (ODLC) , University of Calabar.
Prof. Florence Obi at the virtual event which involved 21 matriculating students said the commitment of the institution has engendered the provision of robust online platforms, comprehensive resources, dedicated faculty and learning environment that competes favourably with the conventional classroom.
Prof. Obi who said that the programmes are designed to cater for the diverse needs of the students, also appreciated the beauty of the online programme, describing it as incredibly rewarding as it oblige learners the convenience of receiving lectures from the comfort of their homes.

The University helmsman used the occasion to inform the matriculating students that no difference exist between the degrees obtained through the online platform and those obtained through the conventional mode
She further stated that as online graduates, they will participate in the same Convocation ceremony with the conventional students and also participate in the National Youth Service Corp Scheme (NYSC).
The Vice Chancellor congratulated the Matriculating students on their decision to choose UNICAL ODL programme as it has the potential to change their lives and that of those around them.
High point of the event was the students taking the matriculating Oath online.

Principal officers of the University as well as the Director of Open and Distance Learning Centre and Director of Academic Planning graced the event.
