Speaking at the University's 255th inaugural lecture in Ilorin, Ms. Olawuyi emphasized the importance of bringing disabled children into the open at an early age. She argued that timely acknowledgment allows these children to access quality education, leading to improved life outcomes.
Ms. Olawuyi also highlighted the necessity of understanding the causes of disabilities, advocating for precautionary measures, particularly for preventable causes. She emphasized that removing societal limitations and barriers enables people with disabilities to contribute significantly to national development.

Citing research, Ms. Olawuyi revealed that individuals with hearing impairments showed no significant differences in creative thinking abilities compared to their peers with normal hearing. This finding underscores the potential of disabled individuals when given equal opportunities.
Furthermore, she called for the integration of Special Education into General Studies at higher institutions to promote awareness of disabilities and their causes in society. Ms. Olawuyi also stressed the importance of employing professionals to provide inclusive education for people with disabilities.
