Prof. Egbewole expressed his commitment to supporting the Department of Performing Arts in realizing this ambitious project. He highlighted the potential benefits, stating that the film village would not only place the department on the global map but also turn it into a significant revenue-generating venture for both the department and the university.
“The film village will enhance our global presence and significantly contribute to our internally generated revenue,” said Egbewole. “I envision a future where people pay to watch the various performances by our talented students.”
Prof. Segun Oyewo, the Head of the Department of Performing Arts, lauded the Vice Chancellor and his management team for their unwavering support. He emphasized that the recent renovation of the Performing Arts Theatre was made possible through this backing, marking a significant milestone for the department.
“Our 499 final year project performance has grown remarkably since its inception in 1985. What started with five groups of 18 students has now expanded to 18 groups performing over 18 days,” Oyewo remarked. “With the administration's continued support, our theatre is set to become a premier destination for theatre entertainment in Nigeria and Africa.”
