ABU School of Basic and Remedial Studies Hosts Career Talk for Secondary Schools
(SBRS) at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) recently organized a career talk for secondary schools in Zaria metropolis. The event aimed to address the challenges faced by students in choosing career paths and provide guidance on emerging trends and opportunities.
Dr. Abubakar Abubakar Khaleed of the Department of Physics, ABU, highlighted emerging trends and opportunities for science-oriented students in the 21st century. These include artificial intelligence, digital transformation, climate change, cybersecurity, and aerospace communication. He encouraged students to master technical skills, foster creativity, and remain committed to lifelong learning.
Role of SBRS in Facilitating Admission
Prof. Balarabe Abdullahi, a former Director of SBRS, emphasized the role of the school in facilitating admission into ABU. He stated that students who pass through SBRS are considered for admission first and encouraged students to apply for admission into SBRS to pursue their chosen careers.
Prof. Sadiq Mohammed, another former Director of SBRS, advised students to be resolute and take their academic choices seriously. Prof. Hassan Adamu Zoaka, Chairman, Board of Governors, SBRS, Funtua, noted that artificial intelligence would significantly impact the job market in the next 20-30 years and encouraged students to choose courses that would be relevant in the future.
The event was attended by representatives from various organizations, including the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Civil Defense and Security Corps, and Federal Road Safety Corps.
