ABU School of Basic and Remedial Studies Hosts Career Talk for Secondary Schools in Funtua

The School of Basic and Remedial Studies (SBRS) at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) recently organized a career talk for secondary school students in Funtua town.

The event aimed to guide students in choosing their career paths and featured presentations from experienced speakers.

Dr. Abubakar Abubakar Khaleed of the Department of Physics, ABU, presented a paper on "Emerging Trends and Opportunities for Science-Oriented Students in the 21st Century." He highlighted four key transformations that have created new career opportunities: digital transformation, globalization, planet change, and public health. These transformations have led to the development of new disciplines such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and cybersecurity.

Dr. Khaleed encouraged students to master technical skills, foster creativity, and commit to lifelong learning to excel in their chosen fields. He also advised students to join clubs that can help mould their talents and seek guidance from teachers.

Prof. Balarabe Abdullahi, a former Director of SBRS, presented a paper on the role of SBRS in facilitating admission into ABU. He stated that students who pass through SBRS are given priority consideration for admission into the university. He encouraged students to apply for admission into SBRS, highlighting the opportunities it provides in various careers.

Prof. Mamman Musa, another forme Director of SBRS, emphasized the importance of critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication skills for students to excel in their future endeavors.

The event featured goodwill messages from dignitaries, including the Vice Chairman of Funtua Local Government and representatives of the Police, NDLEA, and Civil Defense.
