Educational technology experts are advocating for the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the Nigerian education system to enhance the learning experience for both students and teachers. Co-founder of Schoola Limited, highlighted the positive impact of AI on modern education, emphasizing that AI-enabled tools could address issues like outdated curricula and a shortage of qualified teachers in the Nigerian education system.

Educational technology experts are advocating for the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the Nigerian education system to enhance the learning experience for both students and teachers.

 This call was made during the May edition of Edtech Mondays, with the theme ‘Artificial Intelligence in Education,’ hosted by Chinyelu Akpa, the Practice Lead for Education at Co-Creation Hub (CCHUB) in Lagos. The program, a collaborative effort between Co-Creation Hub and Mastercard Foundation’s Centre for Innovative Teaching & Learning in ICT, featured discussions on the benefits of incorporating AI in education.

 Freda Anyanwu, the County Director of Global AI Council Nigeria, stressed the importance of implementing AI ethically and responsibly across all schools. Anyanwu also announced plans to work with the government to develop a national Artificial Intelligence Strategy to ensure ethical usage of AI in Nigeria.

Abdullahi Bature, the Co-founder of Schoola Limited, highlighted the positive impact of AI on modern education, emphasizing that AI-enabled tools could address issues like outdated curricula and a shortage of qualified teachers in the Nigerian education system. Bature described AI as a valuable collaborator that enhances productivity in the education sector. “For us, we see AI as our work colleague, that is, that colleague that is hardworking, and can help you do the chores", he explained.

Omotayo Olorunfemi, the Community Operations Manager at Data Science Nigeria, also discussed the importance of AI in education. He explained that incorporating AI into the education system would significantly enhance learning experiences and improve personalized learning for each student.
