The chairman of the board, Dr. Vera Nwadinobi, addressed the media to dispel rumors circulating regarding a purported N6.7 billion fraud involving the board's contracts.

Recent speculations suggested that certain members of ASUBEB were under EFCC scrutiny for fraudulent activities related to contract scams. It was alleged that contracts were awarded to individuals who had not bid for them and that the board was utilizing contracts to appease political figures.

Over 1,000 bids were received for approximately 200 available contracts, and thorough evaluations were conducted to ensure transparency and fairness in the selection process.
