A. Director, Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
Job specification
Applicants should be a Senior Lecturer and above with a Ph.D from a recognized institution. Applicants must be able to provide leadership in the fields of information systems, communication technologies, research and development. They must therefore have managerial and technical skills required in a corporate environment and Information Systems and Communication Technologies. They must have good communication skills.
Job description
The Director, ICT shall:
- Provide leadership in ICT matters through development, implementation and maintenance of Communication Technologies and Information Systems.
- Carry out strategic planning for Information Technology in line with the University vision, mission, strategies and corporate goals.
- Ensure effective oversight and management of all ICT resources and operations including human resources, development of budgets and procurement of hardware, software, services and facilities necessary for the operation of the Information and Communication Technology Centre.
- Develop, implement and enforce information systems and communication services, policies and standards.
- Monitor and evaluate all the operations and functions of the Directorate.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Vice-Chancellor (Finance, Planning and Development) from time to time.
B. Assistant Director Technical
Main Duties
- ICT Support. Deliver effective and efficient support for all University staff and students, including hardware and software installs, troubleshooting and system configuration assistance to ensure compliance with University operational requirements and relevant ICT regulations.
- Research and find technical solutions to a wide range of problems in a heterogeneous ICT landscape.
- Initiate investigations into ICT security incidents; analyzing basic logs and processes.
- Hardware and software deployment of college owned and operated equipment – including staff or Academic terminals, printers and publicly accessible PCs.
- Network support to all staff and students in the University environment.
- End user support and deployment of network telecommunication devices (VOIP)
- Responsibility for reviewing, updating Group Policy & Active Directory objects in relation to end users and their devices.
- Maintain and support audio-visual equipment (and users) of the University’s meeting rooms.
IT Infrastructure:
- Hardware and software setup for University terminals – in addition to acting as an administrator for those terminals.
- Support the maintenance, testing and (if necessary) implementation of aspects of the University’s Disaster Recovery plans.
- Support the creation and deployment of secure services in a Virtual Infrastructure environment to the standards set out in the University’s ICT procedures and policy documents.
- Manage, monitor and remediate end user security issues and needs using tools such as Sophos Central and Central Encryption services.
- Monitor, manage or escalate end user issues and requests regarding Firewall.
- Aid in the development of a reliable and secure ICT Infrastructure
- Other infrastructure roles as required by the ICT Infrastructure Officer.
- And any other duties that may be assigned to you by the Director and the University Management
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
- Sound working knowledge of all Microsoft operating systems and Office 365 products.
- Significant Experience with Apple OS and iOS operating systems.
- Good communication skills, including the ability to provide clear explanations, both in person and on the phone, of technical aspects in plain language understandable by all.
- IT Security Tools (Anti-virus/Device Encryption/Group Policy Use).
- Sound working knowledge of networking concepts such as IP, DHCP, DNS. •
- The ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels in a calm professional and helpful manner
- Experience with printer management and support.
- An understanding of the importance of and the ability to provide excellent customer service. An eye for detail in satisfying customer requests fully.
- An aptitude and tenacity for problem solving
- Experience with a security patch management system 4 Desirable
- SharePoint or MS Flow skills (or a desire to learn them)
- Network administration experience
- The ability to prioritize work effectively while working under pressure
- Ability to work as part of a team as well work independently managing customer expectations, development timetables and feedback.
C. Software Developer/Website Administrator
Qualification: a relevant bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology Engineering (Software), or a Diploma of Information Technology.

D. Network Engineer
Qualification: should have a basic bachelor’s or master’s degree in the field of computer science or any other related field. A strong understanding of the hardware infrastructure, DNS (domain name system), routers, firewall systems, and cloud computing applications are required. Engineers should be able to think through problems and provide solutions to them. They need to learn quickly about advancing technology and product developments. They should be knowledgeable in network security, LAN, and WAN.
Job Descriptions:
- Design a better, and efficient network infrastructure for the University
- Work on enhancing the existing network systems.
- Plan analytical and creative solutions for network-related problems for the University.
- Maintain clear and concise documentation of the network-oriented queries and their plausible solutions.
- Configure hardware and network equipment like routers, WAN accelerators, DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol), switches, proxy servers, DNS (Domain Name System).
- Install firewall and security systems for safety from cyber-attacks, or a third party accessing confidential information, and to manage a secure communication and connection within different networks.
- Maintain a database of all the information of the network.

Certifications in CCNA, HCIA, HCNA will be an added advantage
E. Data Analyst
Qualification: A data analyst collects, cleans, and interprets data sets in order to answer a question or solve a problem. They work in many industries, including business, finance, criminal justice, science, medicine, and government.

Qualification: Although a formal degree might not always be necessary in an IT Support role, tertiary qualifications can include the following: Computer Science, Computing, Engineering
