Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), has declared that the era of academics exuding undue confidence and raising their shoulders is over. Speaking at the Faculty of Science Workshop, Interactive Session, and Paper Presentation, Abdul Rahman cautioned against academic arrogance and urged scholars to adopt a more approachable and humble attitude.

The event, which took place at the MIS Multi-Purpose Hall, Permanent Site Campus of FULafia, focused on the "Rules for the Conduct of University Examinations." As the chairman of the session, Abdul Rahman emphasized the importance of staying updated with developments in all spheres of life, noting that education has become more complex and wide-ranging.

He called on senior scholars, including professors, to broaden their knowledge beyond their areas of specialization. Abdul Rahman lamented that some academics lack awareness of various activities within their environment, which can hinder their effectiveness in teaching and mentoring.

The vice-chancellor also criticized the poor teaching methods employed by some academics, warning that the quality of education in Nigerian universities could be compromised if the right methods are not adopted. He encouraged younger academics to seek mentorship from their senior colleagues to better prepare for their roles in academia.
