FULAFIA Vice Chancellor urges faculties, departments, units to work for good of varsity

The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Prof. Shehu Abdul Raman, has called on faculties, departments, and units of the University to work closely together for the overall development of the institution.

The vice-chancellor made the call during the training of deans and directors on enhancing academic research visibility of the University which took place at the Old Senate Chamber, Permanent Site Campus. 

The vice-chancellor described the training as an avenue to improve capacity and enhance cooperation between and among all the component units of the University.

He said that cooperation was important because it provides an opportunity to work effectively and respectfully with different people and or teams, make compromises, build consensus in decision-making, assume shared responsibility for collaborative work and value the opinions and contributions of individual team members.

He encouraged the participants comprising the Management staff of the University to continue to contribute positively to policy and programmes that would enhance development.  

Speaking during the training, the Director of the Centre for Research and Creative Thought, Prof. Adam Adebayo Sirajudeen, encouraged his colleagues to engage themselves in collaborative research, saying academic research collaborations allow researchers to tackle complex problems together. 

Collaboration also helps researchers gain access to resources they would not otherwise have, like funding, equipment or other people's expertise, he said.

He urged the participants to join Academic Social Networks (ASNs) designed for the academic community to enable them to develop their profile, connect with other researchers and share academic-related content. 

"These tools are typically free to use,” He said.

Those who attended the training included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Affairs, Prof. Aleruchi Chuku, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Is'haq Ali Shugaba, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research and Partnerships, Prof. Samaila Dakyes, Registrar, Nuradeen Abdu, deans of faculties and directors of academic centres of the University.
