FUNAAB Hosts GIZ and GOPA Delegation to Strengthen Entrepreneurship Education

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) today welcomed a delegation from the German Development Agency (GIZ) and GOPA Worldwide Consultants in a collaborative effort to advance entrepreneurship education at the University.

FUNAAB Hosts GIZ and GOPA Delegation to Strengthen Entrepreneurship Education

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) today welcomed a delegation from the German Development Agency (GIZ) and GOPA Worldwide Consultants in a collaborative effort to advance entrepreneurship education at the University.

The visit precedes the Train-the-Trainers, Facilitators, and Coaches (ToTFCs) programme on the Inspire-Create-Start-Scale (ICSS) Entrepreneurship modules, set to run from Monday, September 15 to Saturday, September 20, 2025, for selected FUNAAB staff.

On behalf of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) reaffirmed the University’s commitment to entrepreneurship, describing FUNAAB as an entrepreneurial hub that promotes research, innovation, and enterprise growth among staff and students. He highlighted the University’s focus on producing graduates with entrepreneurial mindsets, strong academic foundations, and practical skills to drive economic growth and sustainability.

Mr. Peik Bruhns, Team Lead of GIZ-SEDIN GOPA Worldwide, commended FUNAAB for adopting the ICSS Entrepreneurship Development modules and co-hosting the upcoming training. He described the University as a “torchbearer for other higher institutions in Ogun State,” applauding its foresight in fostering entrepreneurship education.

The Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies (CENTS) had earlier, on July 2, 2025, organised a one-day workshop for course coordinators and lecturers to integrate the ICSS modules into FUNAAB’s curriculum. The upcoming ToTFC programme represents the next step in building institutional capacity to deliver effective entrepreneurship education.

The ICSS modules, certified for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and business development, are designed to equip students with practical skills to navigate global business challenges.
