Ayodele tragically passed away following a severe asthmatic attack while staying off-campus. In a desperate bid to assist, his friends attempted resuscitation by inserting a spoon into his mouth and pouring water on him. Despite their efforts, Ayodele's condition did not improve. His friends then sought out a motorcycle (Okada) to transport him to the University Health Centre.

Upon arrival, the medical staff, including doctors, a matron, and nurses, immediately attended to Ayodele. However, they determined that he had already passed away before reaching the Health Centre.

In the wake of this tragic event, students gathered to protest this morning, expressing their grief and demanding answers. The University Management, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, intervened promptly to restore calm. Prof. Kehinde has personally met with Ayodele’s parents to offer condolences and support.

FUNAAB has established a Committee to thoroughly investigate the incident. This Committee will examine the immediate and remote causes of Ayodele’s death and provide recommendations to prevent future occurrences. The University is also committed to supporting Ayodele's family with burial arrangements during this difficult time.
