FUTMinna Hosts Two-Day Retreat for Online Course Lecturers

The Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMinna), through its E-Teaching Committee, held a two-day retreat aimed at equipping lecturers with the skills needed to deliver online courses effectively. The retreat, which took place on Monday, December 9, 2024, at the National Communication Commission Building, focused on enhancing digital teaching practices for the first semester.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Yusuf Adamu Kabiru, Chairman of the E-Teaching Committee, emphasized that the initiative supports the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta's, vision of addressing overcrowding in lecture halls. Prof. Kabiru outlined three core areas of focus for the retreat:

  • Creating effective PowerPoint presentations,
  • Developing lecture materials for online teaching,
  • Conducting online teaching for courses like MAT 101/MAT 111 and MAT 103/MAT 112.

He lauded the progress achieved over the last two academic sessions, noting that the E-Teaching platform has significantly eased classroom congestion while allowing students to conveniently access lecture materials from their own spaces.

  • Dr. Bala Alhaji Salihu (Director, ITS) on Creating and Delivering Effective PowerPoint Presentations.

Approximately 90 participants from various schools attended the retreat, marking a step forward in FUTMinna's commitment to digital learning innovation.
