Knowledge enhances leadership performance, says FULafia VC

The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, has called on leaders to use their knowledge to enhance staff productivity.

Abdul Rahman, who stated that good leadership could only be achieved through continuous learning, added "we are in an era of knowledge-based economy and the information that is available can enhance productivity in every aspect.”

Speaking at a two-day training programme organised for directors and deputy directors in the University tagged: "Quality Leadership of University Centres and Directorates,” the  vice-chancellor urged the participants to use what they learnt to take the University to a higher level.

Commending the Head, Staff Productivity Promotion Unit, (SPPU), Mrs Helen Bello, staff of the unit and participants, the vice-chancellor, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research and Partnerships, Professor Usman Samaila Dakyes,  encouraged the participants to remain steadfast in their pursuit for knowledge.

The programme was held at the Old Senate Chamber, Permanent Site Campus, (FULafia).

Speaking earlier, Mrs Helen Bello, thanked the vice-chancellor for his support to her unit in organising trainings.

She called on the leaders to use their offices to achieve the vice-chancellor’s vision of making FULafia to become one of the fifth best universities in Africa.

The resource persons for the training were the Founder/Executive Director, System Strategy and Policy Lab, Abuja, Dr Murtala Adogi Mohammed, who lectured on the topics that included: The Roles of Centres/Directorates in the University System, The mandates of Centres/Directorates in the attainment of the mission of the University, Actionable activities to enhance the visibility of Centres/Directorates, and a lecturer from the Department of Microbiology, University of Jos, Professor Patricia Lar, who delivered papers on Review of Strategic Plans of Centre/Directorates, Review of Centre/Directorates Profiles and Identification of Strategic Partners.
