In a pursuit to enhance their oratory skills, grace, decorum, and charisma, the Lagos State University administration organized a one-day Workshop on Public Speaking and Etiquette for members of the University Management and Deans on Friday, September 29, 2023.

The workshop, hosted at the Providence Hotel, Lagos Island, provided a valuable learning experience for the extended management team, who were privileged to receive guidance from renowned experts in the fields of public speaking and etiquette, namely Adesuwa Onyenokwe and Mavi Isibor.

During the opening ceremony, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, emphasized the workshop's goal of equipping participants with the essential skills required to represent the university in the most exemplary manner. She noted, "I have personally benefited from various training and workshops that have significantly improved my capabilities. Therefore, I believe it is essential to provide similar opportunities for our extended management team, as they serve as the university's public face. It is incumbent upon us to glean as much wisdom as possible from the esteemed speakers we have invited."

The participants were privileged to engage with Adesuwa Onyenokwe, a veteran journalist and the editor of Today's Woman Magazine, who shared valuable insights into the art of public speaking and tips for becoming more effective communicators. This was followed by Mavi Isibor, an etiquette expert, administrator, and the CEO of Poise Nigeria, who captivated the university's functionaries with lessons on dining etiquette, physical appearance, and poise.

To underscore the significance of the training, participants received certificates of participation at the conclusion of the comprehensive one-day program. The event was meticulously coordinated by the Vice Chancellor's Committee on Training, led by Director ICT, Prof. Toyin Enikuomehin, and Acting Director of Special Interventions, Dr. Taiwo Oseni Afisi.

It is noteworthy that the university has previously invested in the development of its staff, with some members undergoing training in speechwriting and PowerPoint presentation to further enhance their professional capabilities.
