LASUED held its first-ever Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) Orientation Program for 300-level students and their supervisors
Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) held its first-ever Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) Orientation Program for 300-level students and their supervisors at the Oluremi Tinubu Hall, Oto/Ijanikin main campus.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. B.B. Lafiaji-Okuneye, represented by Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Dr. Daodu M.A., urged students to excel during their SIWES placements, emphasizing the importance of being exemplary ambassadors of the university. He also advised supervisors to be diligent, noting the differences from previous practices at the University Legacy Colleges.
Acting Director of SIWES, Dr. Odumosu A.A., highlighted the importance of punctuality and understanding SIWES processes to avoid complications. Dr. Owoso O., the facilitator for supervisors’ orientation, stressed the rules, responsibilities, and ethics of supervision, encouraging supervisors to set high standards.
Students received comprehensive insights into the SIWES program from facilitators including Dr. Odunayo Y.A., Dr. Bilau A.A., and Industrial Training Fund Facilitator, Mr. Morris. The event was attended by notable dignitaries such as the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Dr. Dawodu R.A., Acting Director of Entrepreneurship and Skill Development, Dr. Olaleye B.O., and various deans and heads of departments.
