In a proactive move to safeguard the mental well-being of its students, the Directorate of Guidance, Counselling, and Career Development at Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) organized a three-day workshop on mental health awareness for all students of the institution.
Held from 12th to 14th January 2026 at the DDP and ETF Halls, Oto/Ijanikin Main Campus, the workshop focused on pressing student concerns such as relationships, breakups, emotional distress, identity, self-esteem, and the pressures of planning for the future. The programme aimed to equip participants with practical coping strategies, promote emotional resilience, and foster healthy interpersonal relationships.
The sessions were facilitated by seasoned experts, including Prof. Asikhia Olubusayo, Prof. Elegbede Christy, Dr. Adeotun Kikelomo, Mr. Abidogun, and Mrs. Ogungbemile O., who delivered insightful presentations and led interactive discussions on recognizing mental health challenges and seeking support when needed.
Students were actively engaged in discussions that enhanced their understanding of mental health, encouraged self-reflection, and emphasized the importance of emotional well-being in academic and personal life.

The initiative underscores LASUED’s commitment to holistic student development, ensuring that learners are not only academically equipped but also mentally and emotionally prepared to navigate the challenges of university life.
