Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso (LAUTECH), Dean of Student Affairs gives information on Menace Selection Of Class Representatives for 100 level students.

It has been observed that some stale students have been disturbing fresh students almost on a daily basis by visiting their lecture halls under the pretext of selecting class representatives. This practice has always been generating serious dispute and chaos among fresh students (rivalry groups). It is unbearable and rightly condemned.  There were more than two instances at 1200LT and Sifax LT.  Stale students should stay clear from visiting the fresh students. Fresh Students were admitted for academic purposes and they should be given the breathing space to face their primary assignments in the University.

Class representatives are meant for brilliant students, normally it is voluntary and not through election, unfortunately the two illegal groups have turned it to be unnecessarily competitive with its attendant threat, bully and hazards.  It is thus imperative to adopt an excellent model to permanently lay down to rest the menace of class representatives.

In view of the above, class representatives shall be based on excellent performance at the entrance examination across Departments and Faculties. The list  will be made available as soon as possible. All fresh students are enjoined to continue with normal academic activities and shun any form of distraction. I wish you all success during your sojourn in the University.
