Minister Advocates for Review of Curriculum in Police College
Minister Gaidam expressed his determination to address the improvement of cadet student performance, stating, "As we strive to produce well-disciplined and professionally sound police cadets, it is imperative that we collectively embark on a journey of transformation and innovation in our approach."
The Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam, has emphasized the necessity for a continuous review and update of the curriculum at the Nigeria Police College. This call aims to ensure that the college remains aligned with the latest trends and best practices in law enforcement.
During a meeting with the Management and Staff of the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano State, Minister Gaidam underscored the importance of providing cadets with practical, hands-on training to better prepare them for the challenges they will encounter in the field.

He further urged the establishment of a mentorship program where experienced officers can provide guidance and support to cadets, emphasizing the values of leadership, integrity, and professionalism.
Ethical conduct and professionalism were highlighted as essential aspects of effective law enforcement, with Minister Gaidam emphasizing the importance of instilling these values in cadets from the outset. He stressed the need to provide cadets with opportunities to engage with the community and gain practical experience in real-life scenarios, essential for effective policing.
The Minister emphasized the significance of regular evaluation of cadet performance and providing constructive feedback to identify areas of improvement. He also emphasized the importance of upholding the rules and regulations of the academy to ensure discipline, order, and excellence in training.
Regarding welfare issues faced by the staff of the Nigeria Police Academy, Minister Gaidam assured the Ministry's commitment to addressing these concerns and improving staff welfare.
In response, the Commandant of the Police Academy (POLAC), AIG Sadiq Abubakar, thanked the federal government and the ministry for their support in ensuring that the institution realizes its objectives as one of the best Police Training Institutions. He highlighted challenges faced by the institution, including staff shortages, inadequate facilities, and non-completion of major projects, and expressed gratitude for the commitment to address these challenges.
