Modibbo Adama University (MAU), Yola, has appointed three new officials: Usman Migawa as Registrar, Professor Zainab Abdullahi as University Librarian, and Umaru Kawu as Director of Works.
The Modibbo Adama University (MAU), Yola, has announced the appointment of three key officials to head its Registry, Library, and Works Department. This development was approved during the university's 102nd Governing Council meeting held in November 2024.
A statement issued by the university's Information & Protocol Officer, Aminu Gurumpawo, on Friday confirmed the appointments of Usman Migawa as Registrar, Professor Zainab Abdullahi as University Librarian, and Umaru Kawu as Director of Works.
The appointments followed a rigorous selection process that included interviews of shortlisted candidates and recommendations from the selection board.

Usman Migawa (Registrar):
A seasoned administrator, Migawa is an alumnus of the University of Maiduguri, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Economics in 1992. He later obtained an M.Sc in Economics and an MBA in Finance. Migawa has been a dedicated staff member of MAU since 1998, steadily climbing the ranks to his most recent role as Senior Deputy Registrar in charge of Council Affairs. -
Professor Zainab Abdullahi (University Librarian):
With a strong academic background in Library and Information Science, Professor Abdullahi holds a B.Sc and M.Sc in Library Science as well as a Ph.D. in Information Science from the University of Maiduguri. Joining MAU in 2009 as a Graduate Assistant, she rose to become a professor and had been serving as Acting University Librarian before her official appointment. -
Umaru Kawu (Director of Works):
An Electrical Engineering graduate from Bayero University, Kano, Kawu brings extensive technical expertise to his new role. He previously served as Deputy Director in the Works Department of MAU, contributing significantly to the university’s infrastructure development.
The Governing Council expressed confidence in the new appointees, emphasizing their potential to enhance the university's operations and drive its strategic goals.
