Plateau State Specialist Hospital Hosts NUC Team for Medical School and Pharmacy Department Accreditation at PLASU
The NUC and PLASU delegates conducted an assessment of Plateau State Specialist Hospital to evaluate facilities for the proposed Medical School and Pharmacy Department at PLASU.
The Plateau State Specialist Hospital welcomed a team of accreditors from the National Universities Commission (NUC) and Plateau State University Bokkos (PLASU) as part of ongoing efforts to establish a Medical School and Pharmacy Department at PLASU. The NUC team, led by Prof. Sani Abu, included representatives from both the Medical School and Pharmacy Departments for a one-day resource visit to assess proposed sites and facilities.
Dr. Abel Izang, representing the Chief Medical Director, welcomed the team and conducted a brief meeting before guiding them to the proposed sites for the administrative structure, clinical departments, and student hostels. The visit also included the Dental Center, earmarked for the medical students' accommodation.
The NUC delegates expressed satisfaction with the facilities visited but requested the submission of the design master plan and documents confirming the transfer of the Dental Center and its personnel to the hospital. They emphasized the importance of establishing a timeline for the project to ensure timely progress.
In an interview, Dr. Abel Izang commended Governor Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for enhancing healthcare delivery in the state through the training of qualified medical doctors. He reiterated the hospital's commitment to partnering with PLASU for the successful establishment of the Medical School and Pharmacy Department.
The Plateau State Hospital Management thanked the NUC team for their visit and expressed optimism for a successful accreditation process.
