The Registry of Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN) held its 10th Quarterly Training on Friday, 20th February 2026, at the Law Auditorium, marking the institution’s first professional development session for the year.

The training was designed to strengthen administrative excellence and reinforce the strategic role of the Registry in university governance.

Themed “University Governance, Administration and Statutory Compliance: The Strategic Role of the Registry,” the session targeted staff at all levels, from Deputy Registrars to Administrative Officers, focusing on enhancing professional competence and operational efficiency.

The training was hosted by the Registrar, Commodore Isaac M. Mankilik (Rtd), PhD, and facilitated by Mr. Kingsley O. Aduga, Deputy Registrar of the Consultancy Unit. Key highlights included:

  • The "Rule Book" Philosophy: Staff were encouraged to strictly adhere to statutory guidelines, ensuring “smart administration” and institutional protection.
  • Ambassadorial Roles: Emphasis was placed on representing the Registrar’s office in day-to-day responsibilities with professionalism.
  • Registry as the Engine Room of Governance: Participants explored how the Registry underpins effective university operations and decision-making.

Facilitators stressed that understanding and enforcing institutional rules empowers staff by clarifying professional rights and boundaries. The session featured a highly interactive Q&A segment, during which senior Deputy Registrars shared practical insights and mentorship with junior colleagues.

Representing the Registrar, Mr. Gideon Orhewere (Deputy Registrar, Establishment) highlighted management’s commitment to equipping staff with essential tools to safeguard ADUN documents and optimize workflow.

The training concluded with a renewed sense of purpose, reinforcing the importance of continual professional development. By emphasizing “re-learning” and productivity, ADUN positions its Registry to effectively navigate the increasing complexities of modern university administration.
