Taraba State University CBT System Records Remarkable Progress Under the Digital Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Paul Bako
The Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre of Taraba State University, Jalingo, has witnessed unprecedented improvement under the visionary leadership of the Digital Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Paul Bako.
The centre has transformed into a central hub for the seamless conduct of examinations across the university. This advancement reflects the university's firm commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and digital transformation.
The Director of the Directorate of General Studies, Dr. Beveans Ajiduku, highlighted the significant achievements made under Prof. Bako’s administration. The directorate has successfully transitioned from traditional paper-based assessments to a fully computer-based examination system.
This digital shift has enabled the smooth and efficient administration of GST examinations from 100 to 300 level, with over 10,000 students participating without major hitches.
One of the notable innovations is the introduction of the Students’ eID-Card. This multipurpose electronic card serves as:
✔️A means of validating examination eligibility and payment,
✔️Biometric verification,
✔️ Entrance authorization into the exam halls,
✔️Access to the university library for e-resources and journals,
✔️Hostel reservations and more.
The use of card readers has streamlined exam access and logistics, ensuring only eligible students are allowed entry, thereby reducing malpractice and enhancing security.
Since assuming office, Dr. Ajiduku has shown commendable speed and commitment in driving these reforms. He praised the university management for its provision of essential logistics such as improved lighting, reliable power supply, and technical support all of which contributed to the success of the GST examinations.
These strides underscore Taraba State University’s determination to leverage technology for educational advancement. With sustained investments in digital infrastructure and purposeful leadership, the university is on track to become a national leader in digital education.
