Academic Director: No leader succeeds alone—constructive criticism keeps me going, says Aminullah

Amid academic demands, Adesope Aminullah Olaide, NIMELSSA’s UDUS Academic Director, urged the need for resilience.

Reflecting on his campaign experience, which required striking a balance between clinical postings, lectures, & the likes of electoral activities, Aminullah noted how helpful it was to work alongside colleagues and also stressed the need for members to cultivate a sense of teamwork.

Besides the support he promises MLS students, Aminullah added that being open to learning is essential to adapting to the various ideas that will be presented, offered as tips for success—not imposed.

However painful self-assessment may be, Aminullah, successor to Abdulgafar Ahmad, UDUS-NIMELSSA’s former Academic Director, considers it a top priority.

“I realize most times we need critics,” he said, “for assessment and to start working on becoming a better person.”

Speaking further, he urged his people to believe in themselves and embrace constructive criticism, stating that “no one, not even leaders, succeeds alone.”

Abdulganiu Yusuf, MLS’ newly appointed Social Director, admitted the scorecard is often played against students who engage in social activities on campus.

He, however, remains steadfast in discharging his duties.

Popularly known as AG, he likened socials to politics, where perceptions are often wrongly conceived.

Instead, he offered an advise: let sincerity and character speak, says Yusuf, on the need to learn beyond academics and get acquainted with the nuances of campus life.
