UDUS to Hold 6th Induction and Oath-Taking Ceremony for Nursing Graduates
The Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Bashir Garba, is set to host its 6th Induction and Oath-Taking Ceremony for graduates of the Department of Nursing Science for the 2023/2024 academic session.
The ceremony, which formally marks the entry of new graduates into the nursing profession, will take place on Tuesday, April 23, 2025, at the University Auditorium, Main Campus, starting at 9:00 a.m.
Organized in collaboration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) and the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), the event will bring together key stakeholders in the health sector. Notable guests expected to grace the occasion include Mr. Alhassan Ndagi, Registrar/CEO of the NMCN, and Nr. Comr. Haruna Mamman, National President of NANNM, who will serve as Special Guests of Honour.
Prof. Bashir Garba will serve as the Chief Host, while Dr. Faruk Umar Abubakar, the Sokoto State Commissioner for Health, will chair the occasion. The Royal Father of the Day is His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, CFR, the Sultan of Sokoto.
The event will also be co-hosted by Prof. A.N.S. Sabir, Chief Medical Director of UDUTH, and Prof. S.A. Said, Dean of the College of Health Sciences. Dr. Auwalu Muhammad, Head of the Department of Nursing Science, is also playing a central role in the organization of the event.
Dignitaries from the health, government, and humanitarian sectors expected at the ceremony include Hajiya Nasiru Galdima, Permanent Secretary of the Sokoto State Ministry of Health; Dr. Nafisa Muhammad, Commissioner for Health, Zamfara State; and Dr. Jafar Muhammad, Commissioner for Health, Kebbi State.
Beyond being a rite of passage, the ceremony highlights the University’s unwavering commitment to producing qualified, ethical, and service-oriented healthcare professionals ready to contribute to the nation's health sector."
