UNICEF Enhances Education in Adamawa State , Distributes Learning Material to Over 120 Schools

The United Nations Children Education Fund (UNICEF) has announced significant investments in education in Adamawa State, including the construction and renovation of classrooms, provision of instructional materials, and distribution of essential educational resources across 125 schools. The distribution of essential learning materials included branded school bags, recreational kits, exercise books, Early Childhood Development Kits, as well as pens, erasers, rulers, and sharpeners for thousands of children and teachers in public schools across the state.

The United Nations Children Education Fund (UNICEF) has announced significant investments in education in Adamawa State, including the construction and renovation of classrooms, provision of instructional materials, and distribution of essential educational resources across 125 schools over the past three years.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony for the distribution of instructional materials and school games facilities in Yola on Friday, Mr. Joel Jutum, UNICEF Education Consultant Bauchi field office, emphasized UNICEF's commitment to ensuring that all children in Adamawa State have access to quality education, particularly following the insurgency challenges in the region.

"UNICEF in partnership with our generous donors, including the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau, Global Partnership for Education, Education Cannot Wait, Norwegian Embassy Towards Safe School Initiative Program, and the Adamawa State government, has constructed and renovated classrooms, installed perimeter fences, toilets, and provided instructional facilities across 125 schools in the state from 2021 to date," stated Jutum.

During the event, Jutum expressed gratitude to the KFW of the Government of Germany for their generous support, enabling UNICEF to create an environment conducive to learning for every child in Adamawa State. He stressed UNICEF's commitment to not only enrolling children in schools but also ensuring their attendance, retention, and smooth transition between educational levels, while improving the overall quality of education and alleviating the financial burden on parents.

The distribution of essential learning materials included branded school bags, recreational kits, exercise books, Early Childhood Development Kits, as well as pens, erasers, rulers, and sharpeners for thousands of children and teachers in public schools across the state.

The state Governor,  Ahmadu Fintiri commended UNICEF for its dedication to promoting education and enhancing the academic achievements of Adamawa children, acknowledging that the donated materials would create a conducive learning environment and empower students to excel academically. The governor called on the state government and other partners to strengthen collaboration with UNICEF to ensure increased school enrollment, retention, completion, and successful transition for all children in Adamawa State.
