The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has unveiled plans to train and issue certificates in Entrepreneurial Studies to all graduating students as part of its strategy to enhance employability and promote job creation among Nigerian youths.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, disclosed this during the maiden edition of the Entrepreneurial Hangout (1.0) held under the theme “Fostering an Entrepreneurial Mindset in the University Ecosystem.” She explained that the initiative is designed to ensure that UNILAG graduates are not only employable but also equipped to create opportunities for others.

Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Professor Muyiwa Falaye, the Vice-Chancellor described the programme as a groundbreaking move in the Nigerian university system. “In the next one year or so, students who graduate here will also receive certificates in Entrepreneurial Studies. This is innovative and the first of its kind among Nigerian universities. We want our graduates to become job creators — people who can make a difference without depending solely on employment,” she said.
