UNILORIN and NAISET Strengthen Partnership with Practical Library Science Training
The University of Ilorin's Vice Chancellor praises the collaboration with NAISET as 30 military trainees complete a two-week Library Science practical experience.
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has expressed his enthusiasm for the ongoing collaboration between the University and the Nigerian Army Institute of Science and Technology (NAISET), Sobi Cantonment, Ilorin.
Prof. Egbewole’s remarks came during a visit from participants of a three-month Basic Course in Library Science at NAISET. The group was at the University of Ilorin Library for a two-week practical experience, a testament to the effective Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions.
In his address, Prof. Egbewole praised the NAISET team for their choice to forego camouflage uniforms, which he noted could have potentially intimidated university students and staff. He highlighted the constructive relationship fostered through the MoU, which enabled the practical training session.
Prof. Egbewole commended the trainees, describing them as ambassadors and advocates for both institutions. He encouraged them to fully leverage the opportunity to enhance their skills and contribute to personal and institutional growth.
Mr. Niyi John, the team leader from NAISET, conveyed that the two-week immersion at the University of Ilorin provided the 30 students with invaluable practical experience in Library Science, complementing their theoretical knowledge. He emphasized that this initiative is a key part of the partnership between NAISET and the University, aimed at bridging the gap between academic learning and practical application.
University Librarian, Dr. Kamaldeen Tunde Omopupa, also spoke on the initiative, noting that NAISET’s request for practical training underscores their commitment to expanding educational opportunities and offering hands-on experience to military personnel.
The successful integration of practical training into the educational experience of NAISET students marks a significant milestone in the ongoing collaboration between the University of Ilorin and NAISET, enhancing the synergy between academic and military training.
