AAU SUG Caretaker Committee rejects planned protest, says no protest without recourse to dialogue

The appointed Student Union Government Caretaker committee have released a memo admonishing students to stop the incessant  protest at the school gate, Myschoolnews report.

In a memo released and signed by the Chairman and the Secretary General of the committee in which include a table practical demonstrating the fees payable by returning students  showing previous and current academic sessions.

The committee insisted that there was no increase in tuition fee for returning students, according to the committee,  various components make up the school fees including tuition and add-ons fees. However, according to them, the increment observed in the total fees payable by students is traceable to the Edo Health Insurance Scheme (EDOHIS).

The Caretaker Committee said they have appealed to the Special Intervention Team and the University Management to suppress or take out the Learning Management System (LMS) component as the Edo Health Insurance Scheme (EDOHIS) is acknowledged as statutory hence cannot be taken off  because other state-owed tertiary institutions in Edo state are paying as well.

Also in the case of the Faculties in the College of Medicine, the committee said the window of negotiations is still open for those that have not had interaction in this regard. However, the Caretaker Committee said they have extended invitations to the Faculty Reps for a meeting to resolve the gray areas and reach a common ground.

The committee therefore enjoin the students not be to susceptible to any form of gullibility or misleading demonstration, as the man-hours lost due to the suspension of academic and administrative activities in the past few weeks have greater negative consequences on the students.
