The Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED) SERVICOM Unit hosted a two-day workshop on Monday 26th and Tuesday 27th January 2026, aimed at enhancing service delivery across the institution.

The workshop featured Professor Oluseyi Ezekiel Awe as the guest speaker, who delivered a comprehensive lecture on the SERVICOM framework, stressing the importance of adhering to service delivery standards, ethics, and effective complaints management. He highlighted that SERVICOM was established by government to improve citizens’ quality of life, ensuring safety, efficiency, and satisfaction in public services.

Professor Awe emphasized core values in public administration, including transparency, accountability, professionalism, and ethical conduct. He also detailed the benefits of SERVICOM, such as strengthening interactions between service providers and recipients, promoting excellence, and enhancing institutional reputation.

Addressing existing challenges, he noted issues like low awareness, inadequate institutional commitment, resistance to change, and poor reporting culture. He highlighted the transformative role of technology in enhancing SERVICOM’s efficiency, particularly in complaints handling, real-time data collection, accountability, and prompt resolution.

Professor Awe introduced six ethical lenses crucial for guiding SERVICOM activities: Rights, Justice, Utilitarian, Common Good, Virtues, and Care Ethics, explaining that these frameworks help determine standards of behavior that foster integrity, responsibility, fairness, and moral accountability.

The lecturer also outlined the unit’s key responsibilities, including periodic reporting, analysis and dissemination of complaints, and sharing best practices in service delivery, stressing that government attention to public sector efficiency drives economic growth, social development, and poverty alleviation.

The workshop was hosted at the New Centre for Educational Technology (CET) and was well attended by university staff and dignitaries, including Dr. K. O. Bolarinwa, Mr. P. B. Adebayo, Mrs. O. O. Bada, Mrs. A. P. Olabode, Dr. E. O. Fehintola, Dr. S. O. Awolaoye, Mr. M. R. Sheji, Mrs. O. O. Olabisi, and Mrs. Owan R. B., among others.

The training reinforced the university’s commitment to transparent, accountable, and citizen-focused service delivery, equipping SERVICOM members with practical tools and ethical frameworks to enhance institutional efficiency and public trust.
