NSUK Completes 4-Day LMS Workshop, Accelerates Digitalization of Academic Activities

The workshop forms part of the University’s strategic roadmap to fully digitalize academic processes and enhance research capabilities.
The workshop was officially opened by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Maikano Muhammad Ari, representing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman. In his remarks, Prof. Ari encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained to improve research, information management, and communication skills, emphasizing the central role of ICT in promoting academic excellence.
At the closing ceremony, the Registrar, Dr. Bala I. Ahmed II, delivering special remarks on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, highlighted ICT’s importance in advancing academic quality and strengthening assurance mechanisms. He commended the Directorate of ICT for organizing the workshop and acknowledged the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for supporting the initiative. Dr. Bala further stressed the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in research, content generation, and other academic processes, urging participants to leverage the skills acquired for the University’s digital transformation.

The Acting Director of ICT, Dr. Idris Sule, expressed gratitude to staff and students for their engagement and to University Management for continuous support. He noted that the workshop, the first under the TETFund intervention initiative, will be extended to faculties and departments to deepen NSUK’s digitalization efforts. Dr. Sule emphasized the LMS’s role in resource management, document uploads, and verification, and highlighted the need for collaboration with TETFund to secure additional ICT resources, including laptops for faculties.
In her vote of thanks, the Director of Training, Mrs. Hajara Garba Omotosho, praised the Directorate of ICT for its leadership, thanked TETFund for its support, and encouraged participants to demonstrate sustained commitment in future training programmes.
The workshop concluded with the presentation of certificates to Deans of Faculty and a group photograph, marking the successful completion of the training.
