On Thursday, February 5, 2026, Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) took a major step in strengthening its academic framework with the official inauguration of the University’s Postgraduate Board. The ceremony, held at the Multimedia Complex Room of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, marks a key milestone in enhancing postgraduate education and promoting scholarly excellence at the institution.

In her address, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye, described the establishment of the Postgraduate School as foundational to quality research, advanced scholarship, and the University’s academic reputation. She emphasized that the College will position LASUED for global academic relevance and urged the newly appointed Provost and Board members to approach their roles with integrity, commitment, and professionalism, while ensuring effective governance and the highest academic standards.

Prof. Lafiaji-Okuneye formally presented the members of the Postgraduate School Board and charged them to deploy their expertise in alignment with the University’s vision and mission.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. M. A. Daodu, stressed that the Board’s functions are strictly academic and must be guided by principles, objectivity, and facts. He encouraged the Provost, Prof. Okedeyi Abiodun S., to operate an open system that allows Board members to freely contribute ideas for advancing the College. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. M. A. Shittu, and University Bursar, Mr. Ajose Ganiu Adeniyi, also congratulated the Provost and Board members, urging strict adherence to regulatory guidelines and commitment to the growth of the Postgraduate College. The University Registrar, Mr. Akinfemiwa Opeoluwa, extended best wishes for a successful tenure.

In his address, the Provost of the Postgraduate College, Prof. Okedeyi Abiodun S., expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and University Management for the establishment of the Board. He highlighted the Board’s composition of experienced scholars and administrators, emphasizing their role in providing policy direction, strategic oversight, and ensuring global competitiveness of the postgraduate system. Prof. Okedeyi outlined the College’s vision as a hub for cutting-edge research, innovation, and advanced professional training, producing graduates capable of contributing to national development and competing globally. He assured University Management of his commitment to transparency, academic rigor, quality assurance, and timely programme completion.
