Auchi Polytechnic Leads on National Policy Implementation for Drugs and Substance Use in Schools

At today’s formal launch of the “National Policy Implementation Guidelines on Drugs and Substance Use in Nigerian Schools” in Abuja, the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, unveiled a nationwide framework aimed at tackling substance abuse among students.

Dr. S.S. Umar, Rector of Auchi Polytechnic and Chairman of the Committee of Federal Polytechnic Rectors (COFER), expressed a deep sense of fulfilment at having chaired the ministerial committee responsible for formulating the guidelines. He emphasized that substance abuse is not merely a disciplinary concern but a serious threat to the next generation, the quality of educational institutions, and the nation’s social fabric.

The guidelines provide a clear, coordinated framework for prevention, education, and intervention, empowering schools to proactively safeguard students.
