British Council Funds National Open University of Nigeria-Cardiff TNE Project
According to the project lead, Dr. Juliana Ndunagu of NOUN's Faculty of Computing, the initiative focuses on creating an enabling environment for TNE, removing obstacles, and fostering opportunities for educational transformation. The project will run for 12 months.
The British Council has approved funding for a Transnational Education (TNE) Exploratory Grant between the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) and Cardiff Metropolitan University, United Kingdom.
The project, titled “A Scoping Activity for Analysing and Mitigating Barriers to TNE Between UK and Nigerian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs),” aims to strengthen TNE quality, address barriers, and align efforts with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Nigerian team includes six NOUN staff members:
- Dr. Juliana Ndunagu (Principal Investigator, Faculty of Computing)
- Dr. Loveth Ekwueme(Faculty of Education)
- Dr. Johnson Okoh (Faculty of Management Sciences)
- Dr. Erimma Orie (Faculty of Law)
- Dr. Matthew Ogwuche(Faculty of Social Sciences)
- Dr. Christina Ezeanya (Faculty of Computing)
They will collaborate with four counterparts from Cardiff Metropolitan University to achieve the project’s objectives.
