BUK Scores 96% in NUC Accreditation Exercise, All Programmes Get Full Accreditation Status

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation status to 23 out of 24 programmes of Bayero University, Kano (BUK) in the 2023 accreditation exercise, with an impressive overall score of 96%.

According to a report released by the NUC last week, the University's programmes in seven faculties underwent routine assessment between October and November 2023. The faculties included Agriculture, Communication, Engineering, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Basic Medical Sciences, Allied Health Sciences, and Education.

The breakdown of the accredited programmes shows that:

- Faculty of Agriculture: B. Forestry and Wildlife Management (93.6%), Food Science and Technology (84.0%)

- Faculty of Communication: (link unavailable) Information and Media Studies (93.2%), Theatre and Performing Arts (92.8%)

- Faculty of Engineering: B. Eng Telecommunication Engineering (84.0%), Chemical Engineering (80.0%), Petroleum Engineering (78.0%)

- Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences (FEES): (link unavailable) Geology (90.4%), Urban and Regional Planning (89.6%), Environmental Management (88.0%), Architecture (85.6%), Estate Management (85.6%), Quantity Survey (84.8%)

All programmes in the other faculties also received full accreditation status.
