Chrisland University Matriculation: VC Encourages Positive Mindset Among New Students

The Vice Chancellor of Chrisland University, Prof. Chinedum Babalola, has called upon the 394 newly admitted students of the institution to cultivate a positive attitude and mindset as they embark on their academic journey to achieve excellence.

Addressing the matriculating students during the 9th matriculation ceremony for the 2023/2024 academic session on Thursday, Prof. Babalola emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive outlook amidst the challenges of the prevailing economic conditions.

She urged the students to resist succumbing to negativity and instead focus on leveraging the comprehensive training provided by Chrisland University to become trailblazers and problem solvers in their respective fields.

"The training you will receive here in Chrisland is all-encompassing and has been carefully designed to help you be a trailblazer but you must have a positive attitude and mindset," Prof. Babalola affirmed. "You must always work on your mindset. Many people are sad and have gone into depression these days because they have decided to carry on their heads all that is happening with our economy."

Warning against engaging in vices such as examination malpractices, drug abuse, cultism, or hooliganism, Prof. Babalola reiterated the university's zero-tolerance policy towards such behaviors, emphasizing the importance of upholding integrity and discipline.

She also highlighted the university's achievements, including obtaining full NUC accreditation for all 22 programs and expanding the student quota for the nursing program from 50 to 150, underscoring the institution's commitment to academic excellence and growth.

The guest lecturer at the event, Dr. Kate Isa, Founder of Katchey Company Limited, delivered a motivational address on "How to Win," urging the students to view setbacks as opportunities for growth and to adopt strategies such as effective time management, mentorship, and goal setting to succeed academically.

"Winning is not about perfection, it's about progress," Dr. Isa emphasized. "Be kind to yourself, be persistent, and believe in your potential."

Encouraging the students to embrace their academic journey with resilience and purpose, Dr. Isa advised against seeking education abroad without contributing to the development of Nigeria, urging them to return and use their knowledge to make a positive impact on the nation.
