The Commissioner for the Ministry of Higher Education, Alhaji Muhammad Shetima Gadam, recently paid a working visit to the College of Education, Billiri, to assess the condition of the institution and engage with the college management.

In his address during the visit, Commissioner Gadam commended the visionary leadership of Gombe State Governor, His Excellency Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, for his continued efforts in advancing the state’s socio-economic development, particularly in the education sector. He assured the college management of the state's commitment to maintaining progressive policies and initiatives that support growth in all sectors, including education.

Commissioner Gadam also praised the management and staff of the College of Education, Billiri, for their dedication and hard work in ensuring the smooth operation of the institution.

Dr. Bertha Abdu Danja, the Provost of the College, expressed her gratitude to Governor Yahaya for the visit, which she described as an important recognition of the college's role in the state’s education system. In her address, Dr. Danja raised concerns about several challenges facing the college, particularly the incomplete perimeter fence that has left the institution vulnerable to security threats. She urged the state government to prioritize the completion of the fence to ensure the safety of students, staff, and property.

The Provost also appealed for the construction of a proper road network within the college to improve accessibility, as well as addressing the urgent issue of gully erosion that poses a threat to the college from the south. Additionally, Dr. Danja called for the provision of electricity and other essential services to enhance the learning environment.

Among those in attendance were the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Alhaji Yambiu Idris Nuna; Director of Administration and Finance, Alhaji Ahmad Ali Umar; and Director of Higher Education, Alhaji Hadisu Musa. The college was also represented by key officials, including Deputy Provost Dr. Abdulrahman Muhammad, Registrar Malam Umar Abubakar Muhammad, and Bursar Garba Shu’aibu.
