This partnership aims to foster collaboration and set the stage for a remarkable exchange of expertise and resources between the institution and Innoson Vehicles.

The agreement outlines a strategic framework that governs the cooperative efforts between IVM and the Federal Polytechnic, Oko. The Rector, Engr. Dr. Francisca Nwafulugo, emphasized the National Board for Technical Education's (NBTE) approval for this collaborative endeavor. A 23-member committee, led by Comrade Chibuzo Asomugha, a former national President of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), was established to facilitate the partnership's successful implementation.This initiative will foster effective collaboration in enhancing the skills and knowledge of staff and students at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko. Both the institution and the automobile manufacturing giant will provide a diverse range of training, seminars, and skill acquisition programs, focusing primarily on engineering and other relevant fields. Other departments within the institution will be actively involved in areas such as tool design, fabrication, repairs, and maintenance.

The primary objective of this partnership is to promote institutional exchange by inviting experts from Innoson Vehicles to participate in various training activities and professional development. Through this collaboration, it is anticipated that the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, will establish a standard training and service delivery workshop within the institution, serving as a revenue hub and further enhancing the educational offerings of the institution. The Chairman/CEO of Innoson Vehicles, Chief Dr. Innocent Chukwuma, emphasized that the collaboration extends beyond IVM to include other subsidiaries of the Innoson Group of companies that are relevant to programs offered at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko. This broader perspective ensures that the partnership caters to the acquisition of technical skills for both staff and students.
Innovatively, this partnership and collaboration will see the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, assisting graduates of Innoson Kiara Academy by devising course content to address major areas of deficiencies and other related National Diploma curricula. Graduates will have an opportunity to enroll in HND programs at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, thus fostering a smooth transition to higher education. Furthermore, Innoson Kiara Academy will provide retraining for academic staff and students at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, in relevant technical areas. National Diploma students from select departments will be sent for Industrial Training at IKA, further broadening their hands-on experience and real-world skills. The signing of the MoU between Federal Polytechnic, Oko, and Innoson Vehicles marks a significant milestone in the pursuit of technical education and skills development in Nigeria. This collaborative effort aims to empower students with hands-on training, foster knowledge sharing, and create a pathway for graduates to further their education and careers in a rapidly evolving technical landscape.
