FUNAAB Hosts DITTECS Strategic Leadership Workshop to Strengthen Academic Excellence
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) on September 11, 2025, hosted the Directorate of Technologists and Technical Staff (DITTECS) for a One-Day Capacity-Building Workshop on “Strategic Leadership, Laboratory Administration, Management and Ethics,” reaffirming its commitment to academic excellence and institutional growth.
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) on September 11, 2025, hosted the Directorate of Technologists and Technical Staff (DITTECS) for a One-Day Capacity-Building Workshop on “Strategic Leadership, Laboratory Administration, Management and Ethics,” reaffirming its commitment to academic excellence and institutional growth.

The workshop brought together technologists to explore practical strategies for effective leadership, ethical management, and laboratory administration.

Representing Vice-Chancellor Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Olawale Dairo, commended participants and facilitators for their active engagement. He emphasized FUNAAB’s drive to foster innovation, collaboration, and excellence, stressing the importance of shared responsibility in achieving the University’s strategic objectives.

In her welcome address, the Director of DITTECS, Dr. Wunmi Abimbola-Okunneye, expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for his unwavering support. She described the workshop as timely and essential, noting that the strength of any laboratory lies not only in technical expertise but also in ethical leadership and quality management.

Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Jackson Osuh of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, highlighted the role of strategic leadership in aligning laboratories with institutional, national, and global objectives. He underscored the need for resource mobilization, grant acquisition, and collaborative partnerships, noting that “strategic leadership is the engine that drives sustainability and global competitiveness.”

The lead speaker, Prof. Kola Adebayo, former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), discussed collaborative and distributed leadership, urging participants to embrace innovation, empowerment, and teamwork. He encouraged institutions to leverage entrepreneurship, consulting, agricultural ventures, research grants, and digital tools for communication and knowledge sharing.

Participants described the training as highly impactful, noting that the lessons learned would enhance professional development and workplace effectiveness. The workshop was widely acknowledged as a success, equipping laboratory professionals with the vision, ethics, and leadership skills needed to advance FUNAAB’s commitment to institutional excellence.
