The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA) has issued a detailed clarification regarding NELFUND disbursements, school fees payments, and refund procedures, addressing student concerns over recent reports.
In a notice dated February 2, 2026, the SUG confirmed that university management is actively collaborating with NELFUND to ensure students fully benefit from the loan scheme. The union emphasized the institution’s track record in efficient and transparent handling of NELFUND payments.

Key Clarifications:
- Funds disbursed in July 2025 for the 2024/2025 session were returned to NELFUND, as that academic year was already covered. Students did not lose their loan benefits.
- NELFUND payments were adjusted to align with the current academic session, reflecting delays in the academic calendar.
- Students who paid school fees personally and subsequently received NELFUND support will be refunded the personal payment, with NELFUND covering the session’s fees to avoid double payments.
- Any student who received double disbursement for the same session must refund the excess to NELFUND.
- Students awaiting refunds are advised to submit official refund request letters to the university for processing.
The SUG also announced that NELFUND has extended its application deadline to February 27, 2026, allowing more students to apply for the scheme.
The union leadership urged all students to remain patient and cooperative, assuring them that the university and NELFUND are committed to a smooth, transparent, and fair process. Students with further concerns are encouraged to follow official institutional channels.
