IIQS, KHAIRUN, and CEDAD Train Deaf Teachers in Qur’anic Recitation
The International Institute of Qur’anic Science (IIQS), in collaboration with Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Kano (KHAIRUN), and the Centre for Disability and Development (CEDAD), organised a specialised training for Deaf teachers on Qur’anic recitation on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

In his opening remarks, Vice-Chancellor Professor Abdulrashid Garba commended the organisers for initiating the programme, describing it as a noble effort that embodies inclusion, compassion, and service to humanity.
Professor Garba highlighted KHAIRUN’s commitment to providing an enabling environment for persons with special needs, noting that the university has put in place facilities and support systems to ensure equal access to learning opportunities. He emphasised that promoting inclusivity and empowering all segments of society remains a key priority for the institution.
He further praised IIQS and CEDAD for bridging communication gaps in Qur’anic education, stating that such initiatives enhance social cohesion while aligning with the university’s mission of combining academic excellence with moral and societal responsibility.
The training featured practical sessions on Qur’anic recitation techniques adapted for Deaf teachers, with participants expressing gratitude for the opportunity to develop their skills in a supportive and inclusive setting.
