Kwara State SUBEB to Recruit 1,600 Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff Across 16 LGAs
The Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (KwSUBEB) has announced plans to recruit 1,600 teaching and non-teaching staff across the state’s 16 local government areas.
The Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (KwSUBEB) has announced plans to recruit 1,600 teaching and non-teaching staff across the state’s 16 local government areas. This recruitment drive, aimed at addressing staffing needs in the education sector, was disclosed by KwSUBEB Chairman, Prof. Raheem Adaramaja, on Tuesday.
According to a statement released by the board’s Press Secretary, Atere Ameenat, the recruitment follows the approval of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to fill vacancies created by retirements, deaths, or transfers to other states. The decision to recruit was based on a recent needs assessment conducted across the local government areas.
The statement detailed the approval for the recruitment of 695 Bachelor of Education degree holders, 605 Nigeria Certificate in Education holders, 200 security guards, and 111 other non-teaching staff. The recruitment will be conducted at the local government level or in nearby communities and villages where the need for their services is most critical.
Prof. Adaramaja noted that successful candidates would be required to sign a bond agreeing to remain at their assigned posts for at least five years. This condition is intended to address the challenge of retaining teachers in rural and underserved areas.
“The recruitment drive aligns with Governor AbdulRazaq’s commitment to strengthening the educational sector, particularly at the grassroots level,” Adaramaja stated. He emphasized that the process would ensure equitable representation across all local government areas in the state.
The recruitment exercise is scheduled to last for three weeks, with the schedule to be released soon. The board is keen to complete the process in time for the 2024/2025 academic session, which begins in September 2024.
