KWASU Centre for Women Development Celebrates Graduation of 15 Women in 3rd Cohort
The Kwara State University Centre for Women Development and Entrepreneurship graduated its 3rd cohort, providing 15 women with certificates and essential tools for their vocational training.
The Kwara State University Centre for Women Development and Entrepreneurship, located in Akerebiata, celebrated the graduation of its third cohort on Wednesday. A total of fifteen graduates received certificates and empowerment tools to mark their successful completion of the training program.
During the ceremony, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University, urged the graduates to be exemplary ambassadors of both the institution and their communities. He emphasized the importance of utilizing the knowledge and resources gained from the program to enhance their personal and societal development.
Professor Jimoh noted that the Centre aims to equip women with vocational skills that promote self-sufficiency and job creation. He highlighted that while the Akerebiata Centre was the first established by the university, two additional centers have been created in other senatorial districts, with plans for a fourth center underway. Additionally, he announced an increase in the number of cohorts from 15 to 20 in future training sessions.
Professor Mubaraq Sanni, Chairman of the Committee for the Centres for Women Development, also addressed the graduates, encouraging them to seize the opportunities presented by the program.
The graduation ceremony featured the presentation of certificates, industrial sewing machines, and Android phones to assist the graduates in marketing their products online. Three outstanding graduates were recognized with cash prizes and certificates of excellence for their discipline, enterprise, and impact throughout the training period.
