The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Calabar, Prof. Susan Ohen has advised staff of the Faculty to adhere to the University's examination guidelines in the forthcoming Examinations.

The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Calabar, Prof. Susan Ohen has advised staff of the Faculty to adhere to the University's examination guidelines in the forthcoming Examinations.

Prof. Ohen gave the advice  while addressing Academic Staff during the faculty's board meeting recently held at the university's Senate Chamber.

While emphasising the need to achieve success in conducting the examinations, she urged the staff to adhere to the examinations guidelines, noting that, the grading remains 30% for continuous assessment and 70% for examination.

The Dean disclosed that  the University has through the Departments constituted an exam supervision/monitoring team whose function among others is to ensure adherence to quality assurance practices including, the crossing of scripts during exams.

She reminded them that lectures for the session officially commenced on the 24th of April for all students and will end on the 30th of August 2024, while examinations for the Faculty are expected to start on Monday 12th through 24th of August, 2024.

She also intimated  staff that the Delaware State University team will be in the country on the 10th of August to meet with the Faculty/Scientists/Administrators; present CEGFSD's programs, land grant mission, purpose of the initiative, and possible areas for future collaboration with the Cross River State Government.

Prof. Ohen further informed the staff that the 2023 Academic Staff appraisal exercise had been concluded, adding that, staff promoted to the rank of senior lecturers have been issued their promotion letters while those in the Professorial cadre have submitted their documents for External Assessors processing.She said the call for 2024 appraisal is out and that soft copies have been widely shared on various platforms, this is even as she advised qualified candidates to study the process intently and fill in the online forms accurately.

Prof. Ohen disclosed that the Faculty of Agriculture programmes having been presented for unbundling during the 242nd Senate meeting, the Faculty was directed to package the curriculum for each programme for submission and presentation at the Senate through the committee of Deans.

The Dean also informed of the forthcoming Faculty of Agriculture Lecture Series scheduled for the 5th of September, 2024 at the Senate Chamber and titled *Silicon: Not an Essential Element but a Vital Armour* to be delivered by the esteemed Prof. Egrinya Eneji.

She appealed to the Heads of Departments to mobilize staff and students, especially postgraduate and undergraduate students to attend, even as she used the occasion to also inform them of the first Faculty of Agriculture International Conference billed for October.

The elated Dean joyfully announced the promotion of two of the Faculty's staff to the professorial cadre, Dr. Aniefiok E. Uko  promoted to the rank of full Professor while Dr. Okokon O. Effiong is now an Associate Professor.

She mentioned that upon the appointment of the former Head of Department (HoD) of Fisheries and Aquaculture as Vice Chancellor of the University of Cross River State, Prof. O.O.O Kennedy was appointed to take over as the new HOD.
