Northwest Zonal Directorate of Students' Rights Sokoto State LAWSAN Enlightens Sokoto Secondary School Students on Bullying and Gender Equality

On Wednesday 25th June, 2025 the Law Students Association of Nigeria, Northwest Zonal Directorate of Students' Rights Sokoto State Directorate has enlightened the students of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto Model Secondary School on "Bullying and Gender Equality".

The team comprised of five UDUS law students led by the Sokoto State director of students' rights, Abdullateef Rukayat Temidun, and UDUS campus director, Yusuf Bashir.

The team also made up of Muhammadjawad Oloruntoyin who, educated the students on gender equality, Abdul Hakeem Adam, and Abdulfatai Zainab Opeyemi.

In the words of Muhammadjawad Oloruntoyin "Treat everyone equally: Boys and girls deserve the same respect and chances" . He encouraged the young students on equal treatment and discouraged them of any form of unfair and preferential treatment.

The second speaker, Abdullateef Rukayat Temidun's discussion covers every aspects of Bullying, ranging from; its meaning, types, its effects on students, and how to put a stop to it. She went further to encourage students to speak up whenever they experience any form of bullying "Speak out, don't stay silent, report any form of bullying."

She also preach in support of the spirit of humanity that exists among students as well as empathy and cooperation "Help your friends; if your friend is being bullied, stand by them and report it".

The team aimed not only informed the students about the bullying and gender equality but, also empowered them to become change makers in the society by letting them know the laws that has been put in place to protect them from bullying and any form of inequality such as; Child Rights Act, Violence Against Person Prohibition Laws of different States and the likes.
