NSUK Concludes 4-Day LMS Workshop, Pushes for Full Digitalization of Academic Activities

The Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), has successfully concluded a four-day capacity-building workshop on the Learning Management System (LMS) on Friday, 6 February 2026.

The workshop, which commenced on Tuesday, 4 February 2026, was declared open by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Maikano Muhammad Ari. The training formed part of the University’s strategic roadmap towards the full digitalization of its academic processes and enhancement of research capabilities.

In his opening remarks, Professor Ari encouraged participants to effectively apply the knowledge acquired to improve research activities, information management, and communication skills, in line with the vision and mission of the university. He commended the Directorate of ICT for its unwavering contributions to the growth and development of NSUK and underscored the critical role of ICT in promoting academic excellence.

Delivering a special remark on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor at the closing ceremony, the Registrar of the University, Dr. Bala I. Ahmed II emphasized the importance of ICT in advancing academic excellence and strengthening quality assurance mechanisms. He commended the Directorate of ICT for organizing the workshop and expressed appreciation to the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for supporting the initiative.

According to the Registrar, similar training programmes would be sustained for both staff and students as part of the University’s drive to digitalize its academic activities. He further highlighted the growing relevance of artificial intelligence (AI) in producing quality research outputs, speech writing, and other content-generation processes. Dr. Bala urged participants to effectively utilize the skills acquired to further enhance the digital transformation of the university.

Also, speaking at the event, the Acting Director of ICT, Dr. Idris Sule expressed appreciation to staff and students for their cooperation and commitment throughout the workshop. He thanked the Registrar and the University Management for their continuous support towards ICT development.

Dr. Sule noted that the training was the first of its kind under the TETFund intervention initiative and disclosed that similar workshops would be extended to faculties and departments as part of efforts to deepen the digitalization of NSUK’s academic activities.

He highlighted the importance of the Learning Management System in facilitating effective resource management, document uploads, and resource verification. He also called for sustained collaboration between the University Management and TETFund, particularly in providing additional support for the procurement of laptop computers for faculties.

In her vote of thanks, the Director of Training, Mrs. Hajara Garba Omotosho expressed gratitude to the Directorate of ICT for its leadership and commitment to the success of the workshop. She also appreciated TETFund for the intervention and the University Management for its support. She concluded by thanking the participants for their active engagement and encouraged them to demonstrate greater commitment in subsequent training programmes.

Highlights of the workshop included the presentation of certificates of participation to Deans of Faculty, followed by a group photograph to mark the successful completion of the training.
