Oluwakorede Adenuga Overcomes Academic Struggles to Secure First Class Honours at OOU
In a powerful testament to resilience and strategic growth, Oluwakorede Adenuga has graduated from Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) with First Class Honours in Accounting, ranking among the Top 10 Best Graduating Students in her department.
Her journey, however, was far from linear. Adenuga openly reflects on her early academic challenges, describing herself as a "slow learner" who initially struggled with concentration and information assimilation.
The Turning Point
The catalyst for her transformation came after her Post-UTME results. Scoring 66%, Adenuga realized that her existing study habits would not sustain her ambition of becoming an "A-student."
"I knew I had to stretch myself and study harder than I ever did for JAMB," she shared, marking the beginning of a rigorous academic overhaul.
The "Platueau" of Second Class Upper
Despite her intensified efforts, the path to excellence was paved with emotional hurdles. For three consecutive sessions and five semesters, Adenuga remained at a CGPA of 4.4, just shy of the First Class threshold. This period, characterized by persistent self-doubt, insomnia, and anxiety, tested her resolve.
To break through, she adopted intensive active reading techniques and maintained a grueling study schedule. Her breakthrough eventually came through a combination of unwavering faith and intellectual endurance.
A Message to Aspiring Scholars
Now a celebrated graduate of the OOU Department of Accounting, Adenuga uses her platform to inspire others who may be struggling with their academic identity.
"Keep the vision alive no matter how blurry it may look," she advised. "Hold on to faith, no matter how little it is. You are stronger than you think."
Her success story continues to resonate across the university community as a definitive example of how perseverance and self-awareness can bridge the gap between "big dreams" and tangible academic excellence
