NWUK Hosts Concurrent Capacity-Building Workshops as VC Amina Salihi Bayero Bolsters Staff Development
Northwest University Kano (NWUK) recorded a major institutional achievement on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, as it hosted three key training workshops simultaneously. The initiative, driven by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Amina Salihi Bayero, focused on promoting financial accountability, strengthening campus security, and improving student employability.
A five-day intensive training for Bursary staff began at the University Senate Chamber, centering on the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS). The programme is designed to position NWUK in line with global standards of financial transparency and accountability.
Representing the Vice-Chancellor, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Associate Professor Tijjani Rufa’i Buhari, emphasized that effective IPSAS implementation is essential for enhancing the university’s international reputation. The training is being facilitated by the firm Yerima Umar & Co.
Security personnel at the Main Campus took part in a specialized workshop titled “Campus Security Operatives on Intelligence Gathering and Investigation.” The session focused on modern intelligence strategies and proactive approaches to security management.
The training, facilitated by Topford International Security, highlights the university management’s commitment to ensuring campus safety and safeguarding student welfare.
Meanwhile, the University Career Centre organized a capacity-building workshop at the Faculty of Science Board Room under the supervision of Acting Director, Dr. Mujtaba Lawan.
The programme, part of the TETFund Career Service Centre Intervention, engaged Maikanti IT Consultancy and Management to train participants in the use of digital career advisory tools. The initiative aims to better equip NWUK students with the skills and competencies required to compete effectively in the global labour market.
Speaking on the development, the Head of Public Relations, Abubakar Ibrahim, stated that hosting the three workshops concurrently demonstrates Professor Amina Salihi Bayero’s strategic drive to cultivate a highly skilled and service-oriented workforce. He noted that the initiatives further strengthen NWUK’s reputation as a progressive institution committed to innovation and capacity development.
