In a concerted effort to champion menstrual hygiene and support the education of young girls in Abia State, the Rotary Club of Umudike Central, District 9142, Nigeria, in collaboration with North Cobb Rotary Club, District 6900, USA, embarked on a significant initiative across six secondary schools in the region.

The "Pad a Girl" campaign, now in its third consecutive year, unfolded across the following educational institutions:

1. Community Secondary School, Ihim Ibere

2. Methodist High School, Oboro

Each school welcomed representatives from the Rotary Club, who not only distributed reusable sanitary pads to over 400 female students but also conducted comprehensive sessions on menstrual hygiene education. The program aimed to raise awareness among young girls about the importance of maintaining proper hygiene during menstruation while also providing sustainable solutions to address their needs.

During the sessions, Rotarian leaders emphasized the significance of these reusable pads, not only for personal hygiene but also for environmental sustainability, as they significantly reduce the environmental burden associated with disposable pads. Practical demonstrations on pad usage and maintenance were provided, ensuring that students understood how to care for themselves while also preserving their health.
